East Central Energy announces call for nominations for the Touchstone Energy community service awards

Do you know an organization, non-profit or community group that has made outstanding contributions to the local community? East Central Energy is seeking applications for the Touchstone Energy Community Award, which recognizes groups that have shown a strong commitment to the community. Any organization that has helped make the community a better place to live and work is eligible for the award. Recognition includes a $500 cash prize which will be donated to a community service project the winner chooses. The award recipient then goes on to contend for the statewide award.

Community members may nominate an organization, non-profit or community group by completing an application form, available here. The application requires a description of the project, program or event and the positive impact it brought to the community and is due by October 31, 2008.

The award recipient will be announced in November and will then become eligible for the statewide Touchstone Energy Community Award, which includes a $1,000 cash prize. The statewide award winner will be recognized at the Minnesota Rural Electric Association annual meeting next March .
